Hello and welcome to the Religious Education page of St. Peter’s of Alcantara Catholic Church!
We believe that faith formation is essential in our life. St. John Paul II, in one of his speeches, said: educate in order to save.
We love religious education and we ask God to transform our heart and form us internally to be educators according to his Spirit. Our CCD (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine) program has as a goal to help children and parents to grow specially in faith and in the joyful certainty that God loves them personally.
We believe that the effectiveness of our CCD program is always a gift of God, who loves us. It is God who initiates the gift, and it is through God's grace that we are able to respond. And all of us children, youth, parents, catechists, priests, by virtue of our baptism, are called to be missionary disciples responsible to echo the Gospel.
As members of the Catholic Church, we echo, out of love, to the next generations the faith that was taught to us. We hope that our effort to educate the heart of each children, as St. Leonardo Murialdo said, will contribute to the mission of preserving the living tradition of the Catholic Church.
We are sure that education is a matter of the heart. Let us pray to God so that the Spirit may give us a “true zeal to save young people, to educate them well in religion, and to instil in them love of God, of Jesus Christ, of Mary and eagerness to save themselves”. (SLM)
