This group is for children age 8-14.
Every week on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. we have our meeting.
We play foot-ball and other games, enjoy picnic and outings. A couple of times a year we make a two days retreat and in Summer organize 3 weeks of "Summer Camp".
Among other activities we have a "Children choir" that sings at 10:00 a.m. English Mass on Sunday.
The group has a good team of leaders who meet regularly to organize the group activities.
Folklorico Nadino started in December of 2001 after Gabby Lopez performed for la Fiesta de la Virgen de Guadalupe. Father Bruno de Santi, Teresa Castaneda and Clarita Martinez were fascinated and asked Gabby to join Nadino Youth Group and teach a class to kids.
The group began with 15 kids and slowly has grown to become the organization it is. The goal of the group has always been to follow St. Leonard Murialdo’s “Learn, Play, Pray.” way of life. Over 300+ children have passed through the group taking with them the love of God, the appreciation of their culture and their strong work ethic through dance.
The group has performed all over Southern California representing St. Peter Catholic Church: Disneyland, Knotts, TV shows, festivals and competes in dance competitions bringing championship trophies on multiple occasions.
Although Father Bruno and Clarita have passed, their legacy is alive and are remembered as the kind hearted, gentle souls that gave this team a home and were our biggest supporters. We thank all of our current and former church leaders for always supporting and allowing us to continue dancing for our church!
