We hear in the Gospels that Jesus calls many different people to follow Him. He calls teachers, fishermen, young people, in many ways and circumstances. Jesus even now calls us to walk with Him.
Each year on Holy Saturday during the Easter Vigil, thousands are baptized into the Catholic Church in the United States. Parishes welcome these new Catholics through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).
“O Lord, our God, our only hope,
give us the strength to seek you, you who gave us the hope to find you.
Save us from discouragement and make us always yearn for your face
without stopping along the way leading to your love.
Our strength and our weakness are before you:
heal our weakness and secure our strength
that we may come to a greater knowledge of you.
Sustain us with your gifts and we will be able to understand and love you
thus we shall be fully renewed.” (Saint Augustine)
